Thanksgiving in North Carolina

It's been awhile since I've done a personal post. Looking back on the year, things were pretty much non-stop for awhile: wedding planning, getting married, finishing my Ph.D., moving cross-country, and then starting a brand new job. Through that entire period of time, I was very lucky to have a steady stream of clients that allowed me to continue doing what I love most: taking photos of people in love -- in love with their fiancees and spouses, in love with their families and children, in love with life. It's marveloussss. But now is the time of year where I get a breather from client work. Of course I miss it, but I'm also happy to have more time to document my own adventures -- like my trip to small town North Carolina for Thanksgiving this year. My in-laws live in Saluda, NC, and it was a lovely little break from crowded and fast-paced NYC.

Here is the road to Granny's house -- a 10 minute drive over the hills and through the woods ;) You see nothing but trees and sky for miles.

Granny raises her own chickens, and look what they left us in the chicken coop :)

Granny's house is absolute eye candy.

We took a hike in the morning to the falls. This is where my mother-in-law used to play when she was a kid!

Back at my parents-in-law's house, yummy things are constantly being cooked/baked.

I was kinda sad to leave at the end -- the beautiful scenery (even in the dead of winter!), fresh air, cozy homes with lofts and fireplaces... someday I may just have to build a little wooden cabin in the middle of the woods :)
